Subject:Must-read fics in this fandom?

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I watched 'The Boondock Saints' for the first time (yeah, kind of late) and now the boys won't leave my mind. This seems to be a good place for slash fic (yay!), but I need a little help with where to start. So my question: are there any 'epic' fics that are considered as classics among fans, must-reads any new fan should know? Or is there a good rec list you can lead me to? Please initiate me.

Archive of Our Own has about 187 fics. Unfortunately BS is a very small fandom for fiction, and most of that is short. To my knowledge there are no really long, epic fics out there and what there is, is often not worth reading. Which is a shame.

Thanks. Finding fic is not the hard part, but before I go through 13 years of fandom (which I probably will start doing if the pairing kicks me for a while) I wanted to read the classics. Most fandoms have some, though it most likely won't be so much here as in a tv show fandom where writers get hours and hours of new material to get creative with. But still, it's an iconic movie and those are never really outdated. It's proven by the fact that I find activity here. :-)

Hi. I don't know if there are 'epic' fics -- yeah as above user said, bds is a small comm, smaller for fanfics.
the comm bds_fic has a rec post: http://bds-fic.livejournal.com/270834.html
from 2005-ish. Some links are still working, but some are -unfortunately- not.
The one I would recommend is 'Look After Your Brother' - it's pretty long (20 chapters) and written very well. It deals with the brothers when they were teens. The others on the list are a good start.
AO3 is (honestly) hit or miss... But there are decent ones there. I don't know about ff.net cuz I stopped checking for updates there a few years ago.
Hope that helps. :)
And hope you get to watch BDS2 as well! (if you haven't already)

Thank you very much, I'll go through that list and read the long one you recommend (I love long fics).

I watched about 40 minutes of the sequel but something about it felt totally off. When I checked it out on IMDB I couldn't believe it was the same writer and director. It felt somewhat like a cheap rip-off, I missed the heart and debth of the first movie. But I think I'll give it a second chance, if only to not miss out on any slashy scenes, haha.

I'll be the first one to admit BDS2 isn't as good as the first, but after waiting nine years for a proper sequel, I was excited. There aren't enough of the brothers scenes, but I still love the fight scenes. :) I'd watch it for the 'nekked scene', Murphy's 'gratuitous violence' line, and 'whoop-ass fajeta'. xD

I still have never seen BDS2 because I hear it's horrid. I've seen photos of the nekkid scene tho. <3

I guess the photos are enough. :D
I can rewatch that scene over and over again. Wouldn't mind the 'dropping the soap' tape either. I'd pay my life savings to see that. xD
I read your recommendation (below) on AO3, holed up in my apartment due to the storm (i live in NE corridor) and it was good times. Thanks! :)

"Already Crazy" by stewardess on stewardess_fics. It's locked, but you can just join the community and read it. A 9 part series that is, in my opinion, an absolute joy to read and my unshakeable headcanon.

Thank you, I'm already into it (just finished the 4th chapter). It's getting better and better!

Btw, the author hast moved some of her/his stuff to AO3, and there it isn't locked. :-)
